Budget Advisory Taskforce

Arlington Public Schools is beginning a proactive approach to the development of its 2023-24 budget by engaging students, staff, families and community members in the planning process. The district has been fortunate to have access to a healthy fund balance reserve over the last few years to maintain, and in some situations, enhance our support and services. The district’s current $95 million dollar budget is projected to utilize nearly $4 million in district fund balance reserves during the 2022-23 school year. This is due to enrollment being less than projected, increased costs of programs and services, and loss of one-time federal COVID funding. As we work through the budget process to address the projected shortfall, there will be difficult decisions to be made to balance the budget. Students, staff, families and community members will have multiple opportunities to be involved in the process, provide feedback and ask questions.

We have established a Budget Advisory Task Force made up of current staff, students, families and community members. If you are interested in information regarding the Budget Advisory Task Force agenda presentations, you can access them here.

Community Budget Forums
The district has scheduled three community forum meetings throughout the coming year at 6:00 pm. These forums will be open to the public. The dates and locations are listed below:

• Jan. 24 – Byrnes Performing Arts Center (Presentation)(Feedback)
• March 8 – Post Middle School (Presentation)(Feedback)
