2026 AHS Cross Country Team

The Arlington High School cross country team recently received a Brooks Future Run Team Grant from Brooks Running. The grant provided new shoes for each cross country athlete as well as a $1,000 cash donation for the cross country team.

Arlington High School Athletic Director Jay Silver applied for the grant in August before the season started.

“Unlike some teams, the cross country team doesn’t hold big fundraisers so this donation is very welcome and generous,” said Silver. “It’s also encouraging that a regional company is investing in the local community.”

A total of 68 shoes were received. The runners were very excited to get the donation. Some of the runners are using the shoes now and others are waiting until they make it to state.

“It’s awesome that Brooks donated these shoes, especially for runners who really need them,” said senior Anabelle Klein.

“In cross country, we really put a lot of miles on our shoes so it’s really helpful to have this donation,” said senior Derek Salmon. “These shoes in particular are good for really long runs.”

“Brooks is proud to support high school track and field and cross country teams across the country through our Future Run Team Grants program,” said Brooks Running Community Impact Manager Carly Rebecchi. “Supporting the next generation of runners is core to who we are, and we’re committed to helping more young athletes access the resources and support they need to thrive in the sport.”
