Nine outstanding middle and high school students from the Arlington, Darrington and Lakewood School Districts were recognized Jan. 29 by the Rotary Club of Arlington for making a difference in their respective schools. The Rotarians wanted to recognize students who stand out in different ways in their schools. The Rotary Club also donated $100 to a charity of the student’s choice.
Mollie Hoglund from Darrington Middle School is an exemplary student and athlete. “Mollie’s commitment to excellence is evident in every endeavor she undertakes,” said Darington School District Superintendent Tracy Franke. Mollie’s $100 contribution is being made to the Darrington Community Center.
Darrington High School’s Adrianna Fountain-Barnier is a quiet leader. “Adrianna has really grown into a confident, dependable leader who sets a positive example for those around her,” said Darrington High School Principal Cindy Christoferson. Adrianna’s $100 contribution is being made to the Darrington Food Bank.
Kohl Hubbard is a senior at Arlington High School. “Kohl embodies the core values of AHS by being dedicated, caring, and keeping a high standard of excellence,” said AHS Choir Teacher Kendrick Weaver. Kohl’s $100 contribution is being made to The Trevor Project.
Carter Cofer from Haller Middle School leads with kindness and positively impacts those around her. “Carter treats others with kindness and respect, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for both peers and adults,” said Haller Middle School Principal Brooke Howell. Carter’s $100 contribution is being made to the Boys and Girls Club of Arlington.
Post Middle School’s Nolan Johnson is an outstanding mentor. “Nolan helps by talking with his peers when they are struggling with regulating their emotions and gives encouragement,” said Post Middle School Counselor Josh Thayer. Nolan’s $100 contribution is being made to The Trevor Project.
Eighth grader Lacy Kienzle from the Stillaguamish Valley Learning Center’s Arlington Online Program (AOP) was nominated for her academic excellence. “Lacy approaches her academics with dedication and care, consistently putting forth her best efforts,” said AOP Teacher Marah Dandliker. Lacy’s $100 contribution is being made to YWCA Pathways for Women.
Caitlin Miner is a senior at Weston High School. “Caitlin is one of those rare students who quietly redefines what resilience looks like in real life,” said Weston High School Principal Andrea Dixon-Hundredmark. Caitlin’s $100 contribution is being made to The NOAH Center.
Lakewood High School’s Caleb Greenland is focused, determined, and exceptionally kind. “Caleb is the kind of person that makes everyone around him better, and it is a joy to see him use his natural leadership skills and talents inside and outside the classroom,” said Lakewood High School Teacher Christina Pedersen. Caleb’s $100 contribution is being made to the Stanwood Camano Food Bank.
Lakewood Middle School’s Elise Malean is an outstanding student in all ways. “Elise is kind and thoughtful to all staff and students, and often volunteers to help classmates who are struggling with their work,” said Lakewood Middle School Principal Amanda Cote. Elise’s $100 contribution is being made to the Stanwood-Camano YMCA.
