The Arlington Public Schools Board of Directors has been named a Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA) for the seventh year in a row. The board members were recognized on Nov. 20 during the WSSDA Annual Conference in Seattle.
Of the 295 school district boards in the state of Washington, Arlington was one of 49 boards to earn this honor for 2025. The awards recognize school boards that have demonstrated effective governance aligned with the Washington School Board Standards and show evidence of improving student outcomes.
“I am very fortunate to be a part of the Arlington School Board,” said Mary Levesque, Board President. “As a board, we have the unique opportunity to listen and learn from our incredible students and staff about what’s happening in our amazing schools.”
“I am proud of the efforts we are making as a board team,” said Dr. Chrys Sweeting, Superintendent. “We continue to focus on making informed decisions using feedback from our students, staff, families and community that will increase learning and achievement for each student.”
The Arlington School Board consists of Matt Dimond, Sheri Kelly, Nicole Watts, Mary Levesque, Erica Knapp and Dr. Chrys Sweeting. High school student advisors include Mady Van Beek and Alex Phillips.
