Arlington middle and high school students have been confirmed as student advisors to the school board, Advisory Council for Education, Budget Advisory Task Force, District and Community Equity Team, Facilities Advisory Committee, Special Education Advisory Committee, Student Advisory Council, and the Technology Advisory Committee. Some students interviewed for open positions last month and returning students confirmed their continued service.
Advisory Council for Education:
Jackson Bauer, 8th Grade; Nicolas Bleken, 10th Grade; Aly Kleinman, 10th Grade; Arissa Matthews, 11 Grade; Adrienne Pournadeali, 11th Grade; Carson Raz, 12th Grade; Addy Smith, 10th Grade, Kiera Wilson, 11th Grade.
The purpose of ACE is to provide systemic representative public involvement in educational decisions under consideration by the school board.
Budget Advisory Task Force:
Lyla Morzelewski, 10th Grade, Harper Winters, 8th Grade.
The BATF solicits citizen participation in the district’s budget process.
District Community Equity Team:
Aleah Burnett, 9th Grade; Alyssa Calloway, 10th Grade; Noah Climacosa, 12th Grade; Joicee Contajioso, 9th Grade, Mayra Cruz, 12th Grade.
DCET’s purpose is to provide input and feedback for the implementation of the district equity plan and engage in conversations about the equity work and needs.
Facilities Advisory Committee:
Xander Andersen, 9th Grade; Caitlin Calloway, 12th Grade; Ayden Stecher, 10th Grade.
FAC members review the current state of the district’s instructional and support facilities.
School Board:
Alex Phillips, 11th Grade; Mady Van Beek, 12th Grade.
Special Education Advisory Committee:
Violet Allen, 7th Grade; Max Larson, 11th Grade.
SEAC serves as a collaborative forum where parents, guardians, students, and school staff can come together to support and advocate for the needs of students receiving special education services in Arlington.
Technology Advisory Committee:
Izabella Douglas, 10th Grade; Franklin Vincenzi, 12th Grade.
TAC advises and collaborates with the Director of Technology by representing a wide variety of District stakeholder groups, so as to provide an opportunity for as many voices to be heard as possible when discussing the overall technology program of Arlington Public Schools.
Student Advisory Council:
SAC members meet to share their voices, perspectives and ideas, engaging in authentic conversations to better support a rich and caring learning environment where each student learns at high levels and belong.
SAC is comprised of all student advisors on different committees with a few students serving on SAC only. The new student advisors were introduced to the Arlington School Board during its June 9 meeting.
