Director - District 1

Mr. Michael Ray

Mr. Ray OathMy wife, Chris, and I moved to the Bryant area in 2003, from the Skagit Valley. We have enjoyed raising our family here in Arlington.

Our school experience started when our boys, Eric and Jackson, entered kindergarten at Trafton Elementary. Eric graduated in 2021, and Jackson will graduate in 2022.

I had the privilege to be part of both the Advisory Council for Education (ACE) and the Facilities Committee prior to joining the School Board in November 2019. I appreciate the opportunity to help our school district grow with our community. We face many new and exciting challenges with education and learning. I know the Board will continue to put our children first and work hard to educate, inspire and prepare our students.

I graduated from Anacortes High School, and then attended Central Washington University. I graduated from Central with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Accounting. After college I pursued my life-long dream of becoming a firefighter. I have been a professional firefighter for over 27 years.

Our entire family has grown to love this community. We enjoy the variety it offers us and the friendly and welcoming personalities of everyone we meet. As a family, we like to experience the local opportunities for recreation, shopping and relaxation. We enjoy travel, and spending time at our cabin in Eastern Washington. An interesting fact about me is that for the past several years, life-long friends and I have been section hiking the Pacific Crest Trail!

I would ask that you please consider volunteering at one of our schools. We need parents to be part of this process of education for our community.
