Director - District 1

Mr. matt dimond

Matt DimondI am honored to serve my community as an Arlington School Board director. Education, mental health and advocacy have been a passion of mine since 2010 when I started my journey in social work.

I was born in raised in a small town outside of Tucson Arizona that is very reminiscent of Arlington which is the reason I chose Arlington to settle down. After graduating from Mountain View High School in 2001, I joined the United States Airforce as an F-16 crew chief and had a lot of life experiences, which is what lead me into the field of social work and advocacy for veterans. I started my degree program at the University of Utah in the fall of 2010 and quickly realized I wanted to work with kids. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in growth and development, and in 2017 with my Master of Social Work. From 2016-2019, I worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as a HUD-VASH case manager connecting veterans to housing services and benefits.

I moved to Arlington in the fall of 2019 as well as starting work with the Lake Washington School District as a Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist in the districts’ behavior program working with kids on the autism spectrum and kids who have experienced trauma. The pandemic highlighted a lack of community and school supports that students were needing to help them through what was a challenging time for everyone. This is why I decided to run for school board. I’m hoping to use my experience in conjunction with the experience of the other board members to make informed and equitable decisions for Arlington students.
