Post MS Passion Flag Project

Passion Flag project is a gift to Post Middle School Eighth Graders
Passion Flag ProjectAs you walk down the locker bay at Post Middle School, you’ll notice the hallways are covered with flags from different countries. This was the “Passion Project” for eighth grader Wyatt Honsowetz. All Post eighth graders engage in a Passion Project to explore a topic they want to know more about.

“I wanted to learn more about different countries and their languages,” said Honsowetz. “By making these flags, I now can identify every country by heart.”

“It was so encouraging to see him show up every day with a focus to complete this project,” said Post ASSIST Teacher, Kelly Degman.

There are a total of 64 flags in the hallway. Honsowetz could complete three or four in a half hour. It took him about three weeks to complete the project. Each flag has a phrase that says “goodbye” or “farewell” in that country’s language.

“I wanted this to be a parting gift to the eighth-grade class,” said Honsowetz. “The phrases are intended to say goodbye to them as they leave Post and enter high school.”
