Marilee Herman selected as new Arlington High School Principal
AHS PrincipalThe Arlington Public Schools (APS) Board of Directors confirmed the selection of Marilee Herman as the new principal of Arlington High School (AHS) during the April 25 regular board meeting. Current AHS Principal, Duane Fish, will be resigning his position effective June 30, 2022.

“Marilee was born and raised in Arlington and attended school in the Arlington School District,” said Dr. Chrys Sweeting, APS Superintendent. “She has a passion for Arlington High School and has established great connections with the students, families, and staff.”

Herman has served as an assistant principal at AHS since 2019. She previously taught as an educator at AHS and Post Middle School, and also served as a Teacher on Special Assignment. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education from Seattle Pacific University.

A comprehensive selection process for the next AHS principal was conducted and from the original pool of applicants, the field was narrowed to three finalists. Those three candidates participated in a full day of formal interviewing with staff, students and administrators on April 20. In the evening, a community forum was held.

“I would like to thank the students, families, staff and administrators for participating in this process and providing their feedback to us,” said Dr. Sweeting. “We are excited for Marilee as she moves into this new leadership role at Arlington High School.”

Herman will start as AHS’ principal on July 1.
