Arlington Public Schools will not seek staff reductions for 2019-20 school year
LogoArlington Public Schools will not seek reductions in staff for the 2019-20 school year. The district is required by state law to inform certificated staff by May 15 if there will be staff reductions for the upcoming school year.

“With the changes in the state funding model along with limits on local levy dollars, we know there’s uncertainty around school budgets,” said superintendent, Dr. Chrys Sweeting. “We have amazing employees in Arlington and have let them know that we won’t be pursuing staffing reductions for the upcoming school year.”

While funding for the 2019-20 school year is solid, funding for future years remains uncertain.

“I continue to work closely with district administrators and the school board to thoughtfully and intentionally monitor our budget,” said Dr. Sweeting. “One of our strategic plan goals is Resource Stewardship. Our families and community members have entrusted us to be good stewards of the district’s resources and align these resources to support equitable learning and achievement for our students.”
