Arlington Public Schools awards contract for Arlington High School Additions and Renovations Project
AHS AdditionAt its meeting on March 22, the Arlington Public Schools Board of Directors awarded a contract to Kassel & Associates of Redmond, WA to construct an eight classroom addition, a theater arts set construction workshop, and secured entryway at Arlington High School. The project is funded by a capital projects levy approved by voters in February 2020.

“Special thanks to voters of Arlington for approving our Educational Programs and Operations and Capital Levies last year,” said Dr. Chrys Sweeting, Arlington Public Schools Superintendent. “The project will increase classroom space at Arlington High School, improve the school’s ability to support technology education, and provide a safer school environment for staff and students.”

The original project budget was $7,933,000. Kassel’s bid for the work totaled $7,089,000.

“We are so pleased with the results of the bidding process and to work with a well-respected company with a history of success in school construction,” said Brian Lewis, Arlington Public Schools Executive Director of Operations. “Completion of the additions will enhance the ability of the high school building to serve the community into the future.”

“We’re excited about the opportunity to work with the district and all of the project team to deliver a quality facility safely and on time,” said Matt Vernon, President of Kassel & Associates. “We build all around the Puget Sound area and don’t typically see the community and organizational interest and passion that is already evident in this project. We love what we do, and it is very cool to work with a team like this one that does as well.”

Construction should begin this month and be completed by January 2022.
