Arlington Kiwanis donates dictionaries

Arlington Kiwanis dictionary donation helps strengthen students’ vocabulary and reading and writing skills

“Utilizing the dictionaries really helps with the students’ vocabulary words,” said Lindsay Eberle, third grade teacher at Presidents Elementary. “It’s also a great tool for reading and writing.”

This year, Arlington Kiwanis donated 642 dictionaries to third graders in the three districts. The service group has been donating dictionaries to local students for 23 years. In total, Arlington Kiwanis has donated 13,674 dictionaries to local students over the years.

“The Kiwanis motto is ‘Serving the Children of the World’ and Arlington Kiwanis serves the children in the local area,” said Al Forar, president of Arlington Kiwanis. “We want to do everything we can to help students strengthen their education and these dictionaries can help them do that.”
