Arlington High School Teacher Nick Brown recognized as Educator of the Month
Nick BrownArlington High School Teacher Nick Brown has been recognized as the January Educator of the Month by the Snohomish County radio stations and the Law Offices of Rick Merrill. Brown has taught English for 25 years and also coaches the Boys Basketball team. Brown was recognized on Feb. 21 and received a plaque and a $500 check for his classroom.

“I was really surprised and honored to receive this recognition,” said Brown. “All the teachers at Arlington High School work really hard to educate students.”

Brown said he struggled as a student and can relate to students who struggle in his class. He tries to make his class a fun place to learn and requires lots of participation from his students. He said he likes to teach kids, not English.

The Educator of the Month program was started three years by Everett lawyer, Rick Merrill. Every month throughout the school year, he recognizes an educator in our area.

“In eighth grade, I had a teacher – Monte Culder – who got me going in the right direction in my life,” said Merrill. “I really wanted to try and help people who help our kids and this program seemed like a good way to recognize educators for all they do.”

Merrill also provides a student with an annual $1,500 Dream Scholarship Award. The deadline to submit this year’s scholarship is May 1. Details are available at this link:
