Intent to Provide Home-Based Instruction
Washington state law recognizes the desire of some parents and families to seek home-based instruction for their children. Parents who provide home-based instruction will be responsible for compliance with state law.
RCW 28A.200.011(1) states that each parents whose child is receiving home-based instruction ages 8-18 under
RCW 28A.225.010(4) must file annually a signed declaration of intent.
Students will be considered as receiving home-based instructions (homeschooled) if the parent has filed a signed
Declaration of Intent to Provide Home-Based Instruction (homeschool) Form. The form should include the name and age of the student and shall specify whether a certificated person will be supervising the instruction.
The declaration of intent form must be filed annually with the district office by Sept. 15 or within two weeks of the beginning of any quarter, trimester or semester with the district office. Please complete the form and return it via one of the methods below:

Part-time enrollment
Students in home-based instruction may enroll in a public school as part-time students and receive ancillary services, provided the student is otherwise eligible for full-time enrollment in the district. Ancillary Services include counseling, psychological services, testing, remedial instruction, speech and hearing therapy, health care services, tutorial services such as home or hospital instruction for the physically disabled, and sports activities.
Students wishing to enroll part-time or receive ancillary services must have a current Declaration of Intent to Provide Home-Based Instruction form on file with the District Office and must complete a
Request for Part-Time Attendance or Ancillary Services form for the classes/activities for which they wish to participate. This includes “Athletics Only” students.
Requests for part-time attendance or ancillary services are required annually.
