Arlington School Board named Board of Distinction for the sixth year in a rowThe Arlington Public Schools Board of Directors has been named a Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA) for the sixth year in a row. The board members were recognized on Nov. 21 during the WSSDA Annual Conference in Spokane.

Of the 295 school district boards in the state of Washington, Arlington was one of 37 boards to earn this honor for 2024. These school districts share a common commitment to ensuring student success.

“Our board is incredibly grateful to be recognized as a WSSDA Board of Distinction,” said Mary Levesque, Board President. “WSSDA indicated they were impressed with our district’s focus on student wellbeing via the ‘Belong and Learn’ initiative that featured our students’ input and voices. We appreciate our students sharing their perspectives and experiences, as their feedback is essential in our work.”

“I am proud of the efforts we are making as a board team,” said Dr. Chrys Sweeting, Superintendent. “We continue to focus on making informed decisions using feedback from our students, staff, families and community that will increase learning and achievement for each student.”

The Arlington School Board consists of Matt Dimond, Sheri Kelly, Nicole Watts, Mary Levesque, Erica Knapp and Dr. Chrys Sweeting. High school student advisors include Nathan Nichols and Deja Reed.
