Writing – Our second expository prompt is: “My Favorite Place." Students are explaining why a certain place is his/her favorite place. We are learning descriptively to "show" instead of "tell." |

Fourth graders are learning multiplication & division facts, and terms such as product, factors & multiples. We also finished a unit on place value.
Later in the school year, fourth graders will be working on double digit multiplication. Please memorize multiplication math facts through ten at home as this is critical in moving on to harder math problems. |
|
All fourth graders are learning two digit times one digit multiplication using a chart if needed. 4th graders have practiced place value and will be working on rounding and estimation. |
|
This year 4th graders will be reading short stories from the Harcourt Collections reading series. The new Houghton-Mifflin science curriculum has a great amount of nonfiction reading. Accelerated Reader (AR) will complement the Harcourt and Houghton reading and science series with about 15-30 minutes of silent reading in class each day. |

All fourth graders will be learning technology and research skills with Mrs. Barnard this school year. We will use a variety of software and hardware throughout the school year. |
