Welcome
Welcome to the Library at
Eagle Creek!
New librarian news!

My name is Jacqueline Arnold and I am the half-time Librarian at Eagle Creek! This is my 5th Year at Eagle Creek. I really enjoy being the librarian at Eagle Creek because I love working with kids and I love reading and enjoy the books. It give me great satisfaction to find a book that excites a struggling or reluctant reader and gets them "hooked" on reading.

For the other half of my job (mornings), I am the Title 1 Coordinator for Eagle Creek. I work with students from Kindergarten through fifth grade to support them in reading and math.

I love having volunteers help in our library! Please let me know if you would like to be of service in our library. Training is very short and there are a variety of different jobs that you can do!

We hold a Scholastic Book Fair in our library every Fall and Spring. We encourage families to visit our Book Fair to find excellent books at great prices. You get books your children are excited about and we get to raise money to buy more books for our library...it's a win-win for everyone.

Thanks for visiting our Library website.

Ms. Arnold

Literature Links

These are links to various websites having to do with children's literature. They have been checked for content and are highly recommended.

1) Author Websites: - Do you or your child have a favorite author? Look them up on this website. Author websites often have information on books, contact information and activities.

2) Children's book awards: A number of awards are given for children's books every year. The most popular awards include the Newbery Award (given to the best children's book of the year) and the Caldecott Award (best children's book illustrator). Several other awards are listed on this link, as well.

3) Parent literature resources - A variety of resources, including a guide to using the library, safety on the internet, a guide to publications and periodicals for parents, and many other sources of interest.

4) Children's book series - Want to know which book comes first in a series? If you know the author's last name, you can look the series up in this handy website.

5) Sno-Isle Library -  Students are encouraged to use the Arlington Public Library and other branches of the Sno-Isle Library System.  Patrons can access the catalog, reserve items and find other information on the website.

Checking out books at Eagle Creek Library

1. Students in grades 2-5 may check out two books; K-1, one book. 2. Books are checked out for two weeks and may be renewed once. 3. Parents can see which books their child has checked out by going to the library link on the Eagle Creek website, and logging in using their child's AR user name and password. This is a great way to check the due date and see if any fines are due. 4. Books can NOT be renewed without having the books in hand or if they are on hold for another student. 5. Overdue books: When a student has an overdue book, they are not allowed to check out another book until the overdue item is returned or paid for. Questions about overdue books from students or parents are welcome! 6. Reserves: Students are encouraged to reserve books that are currently checked out.

Accelerated Reader
Students are able to quiz on over 140,000 books thanks to Accelerated Reader Enterprise. This is a web-based quiz site. I am currently busy putting the color dots and quiz information on every book in the library which has a quiz. This will take most of the school year. Another parent volunteer opportunity! :)
