Here are my basic homework expectations:
1. Read 15-20 pages a night, keep track of your AR goals
2. Practice math facts and/or math terms that I've assigned
3. Study social studies or science vocabulary as necessary
This should take no more than 40 minutes a night, usually less. Occasionally children will not use their class time efficiently and will need to finish up incomplete assignments at home. This is usually the exception and not the rule. |

It was great to see most of you at Back to School Night last evening. Today the children are working hard to remember all of the school routines that make Kent Prairie function smoothly.
We are reviewing the Big 5:
1. Use kind words, actions, and manners
2. Walk at all times in designated areas
3. Hands, feet, and objects to self
4. Listen to and follow directions
5. Appropriate voice level and tone
Additionally the children are learning about some new recess procedures that Mr. B hopes will reduce the loss of playground balls that we faced last year. We had music today as our first specialist class. Thanks so much to all of you who already paid for your child's recorder. If your child does not have a recorder that he/she can borrow from an older sibling or friend you will need to give Mrs. Breon $6.00 so that she will be able to order one for your child. Apparently we goofed when we wrote our supply list and left Kleenex off this year. So if you could send a box to school with your child it will be greatly appreciated.

It is necessary for all parents and grandparents who volunteer in our school and those who chaperone field trips to fill out a State Patrol Background Check form in the office every two years. I know that most of you have probably already done this, but if it's been more than two years please stop by the office and fill out a new one. Thanks for your help in this matter. We will be taking a field trip to see a play in Mount Vernon in December. If you want to attend as a chaperone you must have a background form on file in the office. |
