Kent Prairie Elementary is located in Arlington just East of Highway 9. It sits east of 204^th Street in a valley which was home to the Stillaguamish Tribe many years ago. Our school is named after the first school in Arlington that was established in 1886 on Kent's Prairie. When you visit the school you can see the photo of this original school hanging in the front office. (See a picture of the photo below.) The K-5 school was built in 1993 and was dedicated to the early settlers of this region.

Kent Prairie Elementary has a regular education program that includes five sessions of full day kindergarten on an alternating schedule, and three to four classes of first through fifth grade. Our special education program includes a resource room, a speech-language pathologist, a school psychologist and a number of remediation programs. In addition, two district self-contained special education programs are housed at Kent Prairie

The students at Kent Prairie receive instruction from three different specialists each week in the areas of music, library and physical education. The school has a 30 station computer lab, many wireless laptop computers and a computerized library system. Kent Prairie has a gifted program, a large choir, and fifth grade band, as well as a Yamaha keyboard lab.

The Kent Prairie P.T.A is an integral part of our educational plan. It also sponsors a variety of school wide projects to promote the arts, safety issues, and build pride in the students. The P.T.A. supports parental participation during the school day. They sponsor Family Fun Nights to bring school families together.

Kent Prairie's first principal Mrs. Bonnie Thielke (pictured above) served for twelve years, opening the school in 1993 and retiring in June 2005.
