May 24th: The Philharmonic Wind Quintet will be performing Prokofief's music: "Peter and the Wolf" at the AHS PAC on Thursday, May 24th, at 10:00 AM. It lasts approx. 50 mins. Admission for SVS Students and their families is just $1.00 each. You can sign up in the office with Jeanne or Terry.
It is based on a classic fairy-tale written by Prokofief for his children and set to his own unforgettable music. Hear Peter and his friends, the Bird, the Cat, the Duck, and grumpy Old Grandfather as they outwit the villainous Wolf.
The members of the Philharmonic Wind Quintet will also demonstrate their respective instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and french horn) with a Name That Tune contest with the students at the end of the performance.
Two of our own SVS students will participate in Narrating the story.
We hope to see you take advantage of this opportunity to hear some wonderful classical music with your students!
Congratulations to Lori Ann Kreie and Marina Segura for winning our volunteers of the month from May 15-June 15th!!! We are pleased to announce the Volunteer of the Month program where the monthly winners will receive reserved parking in the front of the school for a whole month!! Everybody who volunteers for the month will have their name entered into a drawing and Ed will have a student draw a name out at the end of each month. To participate in this fabulous opportunity simply volunteer in any way around the campus (i.e. teaching a class, picking up trash, helping in the library, parent club, advisory team, help clean up family room, etc) and then fill out an entry form that will be in the office by the suggestion box near the mail boxes. We will also accept nominations for those of you that are too humble to write your names down. Winners can win more than once, there will be no exemptions, and the parking spots are nontransferrable to others. Be sure not to park in these reserved spots even if you know the winners are not there. Thanks to the woodshop crew for the fabulous signs! We look forward to seeing all the entries before the picnic where we will announce the winner for September. Happy volunteering!

2nd Semester Schedules: You may notice a class for your student called Cert Contact. This is NOT a class you have to attend. This is only a tracking method for us here in the office. All students must have contact weekly with a certificated teacher and this class is the easiest way for us to document that for the law changes. Thank you those who have asked, but not to worry. You may also see Testing class - this is for the same purpose. We need a fast, easy way to get information out to certain groups of people.
