
The Arlington School District has a longstanding commitment to student safety and Health Promotion. Each school has a Licensed Nurse available to provide a wide range of services. It is our desire to partner with parents in the health care process in order to promote an optimal learning environment and enhance student education.
Health Room Services Provided:

Basic Screenings for vision and Hearing: We provide vision and hearing screenings for students in kindergarten and grades one, two, three, five and seven.

Monitoring and Record Keeping. Health information is protected and kept confidential. We also Document and monitor Immunizations. Under Washington state law, all students must present on or before the first day of school attendance documentation of current immunization status. School Nurses are alert to any possible communicable disease outbreaks in the school setting and work closely with Snohomish Health District.

Nursing Services. First Aide and reporting of injury and illness to parents during the school day. School nurses provide nursing assessment & consultation for physical health and health care planning for acute and chronic illnesses. Effective June 13, 2002, the attendance of a child with a life threatening condition at a Washington Public School shall be dependant upon receiving medication and or treatment orders before the first day of attendance at school. Please inform the school nurse if there are any health concerns for your child that we should be aware of, and let the office staff know of any changes in emergency contact information or phone numbers.

Prescribed medication administration & monitoring medication at school. Medication, including any nonprescription products, can be given at school only with specific written directions from a licensed health care provider with signed parental /guardian permission. If your child requires any medication during school hours, please contact the school for a medication at school form to be completed by the child's licensed health care provider and parent or guardian.

Health Promotion and Health education for students, families, and educational staff.

Resources & Referrals: included within the health website are links to community resources for health care. If you have questions or concerns about your student's health or need resources, please contact your school's nurse. Please keep your school nurse updated of any changes regarding your child's health and be sure to inform the office staff if there are changes in your emergency contact information.
