City of Arlington and Washington State Fish and Wildlife need public's help to encourage visiting bear to natural habitat
(Arlington, WA) - At approximately 6:45am on October 8, 2009 Arlington residents reported new sightings of a black bear in the Crown Ridge neighborhood. Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife was contacted and their agent has requested the Arlington community's help to encourage the bear to return to its natural habitat.
Sgt. Randy Lambert recommended all home owners in the area secure bird feeders and garbage cans as these food sources are attractants to the bear. The bear will continue to visit the area as long as they know a food source exists. Sgt. Lambert stated that if the bear continues to come back after all food sources have been eliminated for at least two days, Fish and Wildlife agents will consider trapping the bear.
All citizens in the general vicinity of the Crown Ridge and Gleneagle neighborhoods are asked to assist with the cleanup and removal of food sources to encourage the bear to move back to its natural habitat.
Department of Fish and Wildlife agent Sgt. Randy Lambert can be contacted during daytime hours by anyone who has further questions regarding the bear. Sgt. Lambert can be contacted during daytime hours at (425) 501-3530.
