It is a computerized reading comprehension assessment tool where
books are leveled based on text difficulty and readability. All of the
books have been given point values based on the length and difficulty.
Each AR book in our library has a color coded dot on the spine. These help students pick out books that are appropriate for his or her current reading level. Students know which color to read when their teacher tells them after the Star Reading test has been taken.
How can I tell if the book I already started is AR?

Go to the AR testing website. Click on student and type in your user name and password. Do everything like you were going to take the test. It will search for the title and let you check if it is available. However, it will not let you actually take the test at home. That you will have to save for school.
Yes! Go to the website and click on parent. You will need a user name and password. (Kent Prairie has one general parent name linked to a fictitious child.) You will also want to know your child's reading level. You can ask your child's teacher for this.

From there the feature you only have access to quiz list. But it will allow you to print a list of books that are available to quiz on. It will also let you limit this list to a certain range of book levels.
At home you have full access to your child's AR account. All you need is the child user name and password. Many of our older students know this by heart or you can ask your child's teacher. Go to the website. Click on the student log in. use your child's user name and password. From there you can see what has been read and what scores were received.
