Message from Board President Ursula Ghirardo

Dear Arlington Community,

A job well done!  The board would like to thank the entire Arlington community for their support throughout the superintendent search. The quality of input and feedback we received over the last eight weeks authenticated every step of the process. Our highly qualified pool of applicants reflected the great ongoing work of our district, as well as the desirability of living and working in Arlington.

This morning, the board held a special meeting and unanimously voted to offer a contract to Dr. Chrys Sweeting. She comes to our district with over 30 years of educational experience in Washington State, as a teacher, principal, and administrator. She is currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, Learning, Curriculum and Assessment for the Puyallup School District. Her background also includes extensive experience and oversight in the areas of Human Resources, Facilities, Special Programs, and the passage of bonds.  Her leadership style is collaborative and she believes in educating the whole child so that each can reach their full potential.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Chrys Sweeting to the team, and bring the depth and breadth of her experience to bear on our future endeavors.

Thank you again for investing your time and energy in supporting your school board through this process!  We foresee a smooth leadership transition and many years of continuing improvement and progress ahead.

Sincerely,

Ursula Ghirardo
School Board President
